Our coaching staff is reimbursed by the Club. All other team officials are parents who act as unpaid volunteers. In order for a child to be on
the team, parents are required to work at all meets, including the Championship Meet. The League Championship Meet on Saturday, July 26
requires shifts of 2 1/2 hours; sign ups are taken in early July.
On a team of this size, there are more than enough parents if everyone does their
fair share. Volunteering can be fun and another way to meet parents of your child’s teammates.
Please Note: In addition, we operate a snack bar at all home meets. It is an additional effort, but it is a major source of income for the team
as well as a provider for snacks on Saturday mornings.
Each family is asked to donate a food item to the snack bar at home meets as well as
for the Championship meet at the end of July.
Safety:
Swimming is quite safe, but some precautions are needed. All swimmers must behave in a safe manner at all times.
Absolutely no running on the pool deck and no horseplay. In addition, we urge everyone to protect themselves from skin
damage by consistently using a waterproof sunscreen with a sun protection factor (SPF) of 30 or higher. Wearing a hat or
visor gives added protection.
Team Apparel and Order Dates
Please consult our main for specific dates about Team Apparel orders.
Team Suits - Order day is usually the last Sunday of April on the Club deck. This is usually the ONLY
day sample suits will be available for sizing.

Parents Job Descriptions
All team officials, except coaches, are unpaid volunteers. Parental participation is mandatory! In order for a child to be on
the team, parents are required to work at all meets including the Championship Meet. Shifts generally begin between 7:30 am
and 8:00 am or 10:30 am and 11:00 am.
Jobs are listed below. When signing your child up for the team, you will be asked to choose three jobs, numbering them from
first to third choice. We will try our best to assign you one of your choice, but cannot guarantee it. You will be contacted
before each meet to arrange your job assignments.
President In-Training - Meet as needed to plan, hire coaches, determine rules, etc. No prior skills needed. Most board
members tend to head up one or more activities (i.e., the ribbon table) to be sure the area is covered.
Snack Bar - Buy supplies prior to meet, set up on meet day, accept donations from team members, price items, prepare and
sell during meet, and clean up after the meet.
Clerk of Course/Shepherd - Assemble swimmers for every heat and organize them by lane order prior to event. Take younger
swimmers to blocks in the correct lane, in the right order, and to the correct end of the pool for relays.
Lane Timer - Operate manual stopwatch, write watch time on entry card, be sure name on card is that of swimmer in lane,
prevent heads of 8-and-under backstrokers from striking wall.

Runner - Take cards from swimmers at blocks to timers at other end, take cards from timers after heat to electronic timing
station. Need two or three people at all times.
Ribbon Writers - Prepare ribbons for each swimmer, and put ribbons into swimmers’ folders.
Announcer - Just what you think!
Stroke and Turn Judge - Attend clinic to learn strokes, and observe each race to ensure stroke rules are observed. This is
essential for fair competition and to be sure that swimmers learn correct technique. All judges must be compassionate if
disqualification of a swimmer is necessary.
Starter - Align swimmers on blocks, assure that all officials and systems are ready, announce event, ensure a fair start, and
make sure that the meet continues in a timely fashion.
